The Most Underrated Yoga Tool for Grief

Non-verbal communication is shown with your hands, feet, face, or entire body. For example, mudras are non-verbal communication in yoga. It involves making gestures with your hands, face, and body in different shapes.

Mudras are a simple yoga tool that can be used anytime and anywhere. Just like yoga works with the subtle bodies, mudras work with it too. Each mudra has different benefits. You can use mudras to work with emotions, chakras, protection, health challenges, etc.

How do mudras work?

Mudras can help with awareness of your breath and areas of the body. Mudras can help guide the location and quality of breath. When breath (prana- the life force) is free-flowing, it can help release the energetic blockages. This helps with responding and recognizing your body's messages. When mudras are used with hands, your fingers have sensory and motor nerve endings to communicate with the brain and the rest of the body. Mudras can also help with feelings and moods. Some energize you, and some can be calming.

The most common mudra you probably have seen is chin mudra. To create this mudra, you bring the tip of your thumb and tip of your index finger together. Would you consider bringing mudras into your yoga practice?
